NYC Floorball Claims the Bronze Medal in the First Tournament of 2005

NYC Floorball finished in third place after the winner Montreal and runner-up Team Ontario in this year’s first competition, the Ottawa International Floorball Tournament. The event hosted six teams from Canada and the USA and was held at the Jockvale Community Gym in Nepean just outside Ottawa on January 1st and 2nd. Even if NYC Floorball was disappointed about not winning, the bronze medal puts it in a strong position to capture the overall title as Canadian champions, which will be decided at the Canada Cup in Toronto over the Easter weekend.

Team Captain Micael Holmström continues to win awards for individual achievements, this time being bestowed the prize for best defenseman, ending only one point behind the most valued player of the tournament from the Montreal team.

Floorball in Canada is growing and improving by leaps and bounds, and many new talents could be seen in Ottawa. NYC Floorball is eagerly looking forward to the Canada Cup and to hosting its own tournament in the Big Apple attracting the best teams in North America.
