The number of licensed floorball players in the world passes 300 000!
The Floorball community shows tremendous growth and now has over 300 000 licensed floorball players around the world.
In addition to the licensed players, estimates has the total number of recreational floorball players over 3 million.
As late as 1996 there were just over 126 000 licensed floorball players, so the growth is explosive.
During 2006 IFF is expected to release numbers even more dramatic than this. Floorball is spreading like a wild fire around the globe and no negative bullets can stop the explosive growth!
Tomas Eriksson, chairman of the IFF, reveals in the latest number of the Swedish floorball magazine the “magic” 300 000 number is passed.
- I can with clear conscience tell you that the number of licensed players in our 36 member countries has passed 300 000. Right now we don’t have the correct numbers since a lot of our member countries haven’t submitted their number yet but as soon as we have the correct numbers we know that we will be over 300 000, says Mr. Eriksson.
Even though the trend shows that the 7 largest countries deliver the highest number of new members the development in the smaller countries is impressive.
-Singapore and Holland has for example been very successful in bringing floorball to the schools in their respective countries but also to set up well run and competitive leagues. Germany is another relatively new country that shows really good growth with over a 1000 new licensed players last year.
And as if that wasn’t enough.
- Canada and the US are also definitely on the right track, says Mr. Eriksson.
